Inspiration
We wanted to create an entertaining game for friends to play inspired by memes.
What it does
There are two roles in the game, the judge and the player. The judge uploads an image to the website and the players caption the uploaded image. After the players caption the image, the judge then decides which caption they like best.
How we built it
We built this using HTML, CSS, NodeJS, and Python. The site is written in HTML and CSS, with a Node backend. It is served over Flask (python)
Challenges I ran into
During the creation period of the site, two members had to leave the event. Thus, it was harder for us to program some functionality on the site.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the opening page of the website, and that we completed the project despite being down half of our team.
What we learned
We learned how to create a chat-room for a website in node.js
What's next for Caption This!
In the future, we hope to integrate a round-system for the website, where multiple images can be uploaded to play the game. This will be paired with a point system per round, and a better judge selection.
