Inspiration

Caption !t was created to help those that struggle with coming up with the perfect line of words for their social media posts and people who would like to limit their time on finding the best caption for their photos.

As creators, we were inspired from our own experience of not finding a good enough caption for our instagram posts thereby wasting what could’ve been valuable study time on wording a sentence for our photos.

What it does

A website that allows users to type in descriptive words based on their photos or the mood the pictures are taken in. Using the vocabularies provided, the website generates one caption that best matches what the user wants. If the caption generated doesn’t satisfy the users, they can simply click the Search button again and Caption !t will provide a new caption for them.

How we built it

Our website was created through the use of Flask, which consisted of; Css which created the frontend, Python which was the backend, Javascript was used for user interaction and html was used to structure the webpage. Our captions were pre written and stored in a csv file from which we

Challenges we ran into

As beginners a lot of the coding was trial and error. We are still unsure whether our code was done in the most efficient way. The biggest challenge was that the website currently works locally on our devices, although we have had trouble making the website public.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As beginners we have never coded in css or html. We are proud of learning the basics of these languages and successfully creating a website. Furthermore we are proud of our developed teamwork skills and how we interacted in a group environment. We believe we did exceptionally well under the time and knowledge constraints.

What we learned

Throughout this process we learned several new coding languages (such as css and html) We also learned valuable time management skills when under the pressure of a time constraint. We hope that the knowledge we gained will continue to grow, this will allow us to improve our website and create more in the future.

What's next for Caption !t

The next step of our creation is to expand Caption !t so it becomes an app that one could easily access on their phone. By doing so, it would greatly limit the amount of time one spends on finding captions.

Another goal for us is to expand to other forms of social media such as LinkedIn to help people generate a prompt for their academic and personal achievements.
