Inspiration

The project, "Caps for All: Bridging Educational Gaps", was inspired by the vision of creating an inclusive and equitable educational environment. Observing the significant disparities in educational attainment across different demographics—such as race, gender, and disability status—ignited a passion to develop solutions that ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed. The convocation cap symbolizes achievement and milestones, and we aim to make this a reality for all students.

What it does

"Caps for All" seeks to bridge educational gaps by implementing inclusive education policies, providing targeted support programs, and engaging communities. The project focuses on addressing disparities in educational attainment related to race, gender, educational level, and disability status by conducting Exploratory Data Analysis. By promoting equal access to quality education, we strive to ensure that every student can achieve their educational goals and wear their caps with pride.

How I built it?

Data Analysis: Conducted a comprehensive analysis of educational attainment data across different demographics over range of years to identify key areas of disparity.

Tried to investigate possible causes and remedial measures to mitigate the same

Challenges I ran into

Almost 51% of data for Race NHOIPA (Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone) were missing and hence a call had to be taken to drop it off. Building visualizations over USA map costed more time. Given 36 hr time constraint wasn't enough to explore cluster analysis.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

Learnt to utilize new visualization methods. Gained confidence to participate in Hackathon events.

What I learned?

Educational Disparities: Gained a deep understanding of how systemic barriers and socio-economic factors contribute to educational inequality.

Importance of Inclusivity: Recognized the critical role of inclusive policies and support systems in promoting equal opportunities for all students.

Community Engagement: Learned the power of involving communities and families in educational initiatives to overcome barriers and foster a supportive learning environment.

What's next for "Caps for All"?

Wish the project gets more visibility and my data driven analysis add more value to experts who are striving to achieve "One Education for All"
