Inspiration
Even the coaching GOATs need a backup plan for their backup plan when missing equipment, injuries, traffic, or halved field space blow up your training plans.
What it does
Capra is an offline-first sideline operating system that unifies drill discovery, timed session planning, and 60 FPS live tactical execution with instant touchline rebalancing.
How it was built it
Capra is engineered on Expo using React Native Reanimated for native 60 FPS tactical geometry, wired OpenAI's API for adaptive touchline generation, and implemented the full codebase via Codex and Gemini.
Challenges we ran into
Preventing frame drops and SVG division-by-zero crashes while synchronizing multi-node pitch coordinates, dynamic passing vectors, and real-time roster reductions on the fly was our toughest technical hurdle.
Accomplishments
Capra acheives native 60 FPS tactical animations and an instantaneous 0ms touchline rebalancer that morphs drills and passing corridors without stopping the session clock.
What we learned
Building for coaches on a windy, noisy touchline demands high-contrast glanceability, tactile haptic cues over audio alerts, and zero tolerance for cellular connectivity dependencies.
What's next for Capra
We plan to introduce a custom drag-and-drop tactical drill designer, one-tap session PDF exports, and smartwatch wrist haptics so coaches can run practice entirely hands-free.
