Inspiration
After many discarded ideas that led to nothing, we thought about what is currently a problem for us as a group of friends on a trip as exciting as HackMTY 2025 and how we could solve it. This helped us develop our idea.
What it does
We decided to create a prototype that serves as a group manager, managing each member's credit to make organization easier, recommending the group's different needs through AI, and also a bot that guides and provides advice on financial topics and on Capital One itself
How we built it
We split into two groups; some were in charge of developing the Frontend, while others were responsible for creating the Backend. We used technologies such as the Laravel and Angular frameworks, various design libraries, and implemented ElevenLabs to create a tour through the different areas of the website, narrating and visually displaying to users. Additionally, we implemented it in a bot that holds voice conversations with users, which, powered by the GEMINI API, was somewhat trained to answer only questions related to financial topics within the environment of a Capital One agent. We also used GEMINI for optimized spending recommendations by category, giving it the efficient approach that was intended.
Challenges we ran into
At first, we didn't have any major problems, that because we had already worked with these technologies and this type of projects before. It was only towards the end that the problems came, when #NessieIsReal went down and didn't come back, we had to change our Backend because we communicated with the endpoints of its API, making that we didn't sleep well resolving that.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how effective we managed to be in these 36 hours, our determination enabled us to achieve what we set as our main idea, working as a team and growing as developers.
What we learned
We learned to always have different solutions on hand, even if they are not entirely effective, you never know which API might fail...
What's next for Capital One - Budget System
We quite liked how we proposed our project, so we would like to follow up on it, also taking into account Capital One's opinion.
