About the Project

Capapply turns a normal job application into a short, shareable parody application video — resume, real role, your voice and face, and a song you pick.

Job hunting is repetitive: same PDF, same cover letter, same silence. Capapply asks what happens if you apply like it’s a performance — custom lyrics about the role you want, your voice on the track, and a lip-synced video you’d actually send to stand out (or at least make your friends laugh).

How it works

  1. Upload your resume, a voice sample, and a face photo or short clip
  2. Pick a live job from curated companies via the Greenhouse Job Board API
  3. Choose a song with in-app SoundCloud search (or upload your own track if needed)
  4. Generate — the pipeline writes parody lyrics, separates the instrumental, builds and converts vocals (ElevenLabs), creates lip-sync video, and renders a final MP4
  5. Export your finished application video

The experience is a guided creator flow, not a technical dashboard. Progress updates in plain language: writing lyrics, converting voice, rendering final video, and so on.

What we built

  • Next.js full-stack app with typed API routes and a session state machine
  • Provider adapters for Greenhouse, SoundCloud (RapidAPI), lyrics, source separation, lip-sync, and voice conversion — swappable behind one orchestration layer
  • Local artifact storage for uploads and generated media, with FFmpeg for final render
  • Optional Raspberry Pi hardware layer to play the generated track on a speaker and trigger a motor for a physical “cap” demo moment

We optimized for wow factor on a narrow happy path: fewer companies, processable tracks only, and a short output that feels polished end-to-end.

Why it matters

Capapply doesn’t replace applying to jobs — it reimagines how a candidate can show personality and creativity in a crowded market. It combines real job data, generative media APIs, and (optionally) physical hardware into one pipeline: from “here’s my resume” to “here’s my application as a music video.”
