Notes
Most of us were beginners and attended this hackathon for the first time!
Inspiration
We wanted to help create an application that helped people who might rely on recorded lectures to review and study without rewatching the entire recording. Instead, this Gemini AI chatbot will take transcripts from the media gallery with recorded lectures and provide assistance
What it does
This AI chatbot will mainly focus on providing a summary on important topics and create multiple quiz questions. On top of that, it will also do anything Gemini can.
How we built it
We used Gemini API to build the chatbot as the main driver for our analysis of the transcripts. Using Chrome extension API, we created it so that it is easy to upload from the folder and should integrate itself seamlessly. We also used a combination of HTML, CSS, and Javascript to write the logic and design the interface.
Challenges we ran into
Most of us were new to creating webs and all of us were new to chrome extensions and API calls. We spent a lot of time researching these APIs and general tutorial on what to include on a webpage.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to make a decent UI that integrates the response from the backend Gemini response.
What we learned
A LOT! We learned API calls, basics of UI design for using CSS, Javascript, and HTML. In addition, we learned about Chrome extension and how to use link backend to frontend.
What's next for Canvas Crash Course
We want to integrate quick and easy buttons to generate the quizzes and summary. In addition, the UI can look better.
