This project was inspired by an architect who wanted to simplify the architectural planning process with an AI-powered solution. He envisioned a tool where, by simply inputting an address, he could instantly access relevant zoning laws, building codes, and development suggestions. To achieve this, we integrated the Google Maps API, allowing users to highlight specific lots and view zoning overlays, lot boundaries, and buildable areas directly on the map.
Front-end technologies used: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Originally, we had aimed for the application to determine zone locality based solely on an address. However, this proved to be a difficult challenge, and we ultimately had to move forward without it.
In the future, we plan to enhance the application by revisiting automated zoning detection through the integration of APIs or GIS datasets. Additional planned features include a user account system for saving project data and receiving zoning updates, expanding the platform’s scalability to work across different cities, states, or even countries with varying regulations, and AI-driven recommendations to optimize building layouts, lot usage, and compliance strategies. Ultimately, our goal was to give architects, planners, and developers an easy-to-use, AI-powered tool to help bring their visions to life.
