Inspiration
Globally, there are more than 2.2 Billion people who are blind or visually impaired. Most of them rely on a cane or stick to navigate the environment with minimum interaction and awareness of things around them, they don't know what is around them, and they can't see the beautiful views.
What it does
CaneGo is smart. Walking stick help visually impaired people to understand the surroundings and describe the view for them.
How we built it
Using a powerful OAK camera that is capable of running neural networks on the go and also capable of calculating depth information for obstacles, using computer vision and deep learning as a core technology solution,
Challenges we ran into
Using a deep learning model on such devices (or sticks), is computationally costly, but this camera does the work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully implemented the core functions that can be linked easily to interfaces such as vibration devices and so on.
What we learned
-Utilizing AI APIs can be a huge opportunity for new products.
What's next for CaneGO
This can be commercialized and bring the power of AI to visually impaired people.
