Inspiration
I was inspired by Spain itself — its poetry, its cultural rhythm, and the modern wave of Spanish musicians who blend electronic sound with traditional flamenco. This fusion pushed me first to create the music, and then to build the audiovisual world around it. The project continues the life of a classic poem while giving it a new interpretation through contemporary tools.
What it does
It reimagines José de Espronceda’s iconic poem through a techno-flamenco lens, bringing its themes of freedom and rebellion into a modern audiovisual language.
How we built it
I created the visuals using Midjourney and crafted the music with Suno. The workflow started with composing the track and then developing visuals that extended the poem’s spirit into a new dimension.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was the music production itself — over a hundred generations and countless micro-adjustments were needed to get the sound right. Another challenge was recreating José de Espronceda based on historical engravings and integrating his likeness into the video.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud that I managed to bring the poet himself into the music video, reconstructed from old engravings, and give his work a new cinematic and musical context.
What we learned
I gained a deeper understanding of Spanish culture, especially flamenco, and significantly improved my workflow with the AI audio tool Suno.
What's next for Canción del Pirata / a Pirate song
I want to continue composing music with AI and breathe new life into classic poetry. This project is only the beginning of a larger creative direction for me.
