Inspiration
I always enjoyed reading those I SPY books when I was a kid. I also liked playing those Spot the Difference challenges. In both aspects - straining my eyes to spot the tiny details else would go unnoticed. In this project, I have combined these two ideas into one chaotic game.
What it does
In this game, players are greeted with what appears to be an over-exaggerated and saturated version of my room. On the desk is a monitor which indicates to players that there is a question awaiting them. From the beginning players are directed to pay attention to the details of the room and look carefully. Questions from the game cards will be based on what appears in the room and can be answered from choosing from the multiple choice options. Observation is key since not all answers are obvious. Questions that are answered correctly will progress the game.
How we built it
This game was written in Python utilizing Pygame. It was written on Visual Studio Code and updated changes to GitHub. All visual elements seen throughout the game were created using Pixilart and Photoshop.
Challenges we ran into
Since this project was done solo, it was difficult coming up with ideas for all the visual assets let alone drawing them on my own.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud to say it does not crash involuntarily.
What we learned
I learned that hackathons are great for coding experience. It gave me the opportunity to get to know GitHub better as well.
What's next for Can You See What I See?
Given a longer time interval, it's possible I could come up with more maps with intricate details, or I could build on what I already have and add more creative trivia questions.
