Inspiration
I have personally ran into situations where I have paid additional fees that I was not aware of when subscribing to services. This addon will help people like me to make it easier to understand what we are paying for.
What it does
Reads the terms and conditions of the webpage and summarizes cancellations terms, refund terms and any additional fees you might have to pay in future for the services you are subscribing to.
How I built it
I created a chrome extension that uses the chrome model to gather this information
Challenges we ran into
Structuring lengthy output json was causing issues, so I had to optimize the output format
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is the first time I am building a chrome extension. So I was very happy I was able to build a working extension.
What we learned
I earned a lot about how efficient we need to be when using local models than when compared to models hosted by a cloud provider. Also learned a lot about the relationship between a browser and extension. Their capabilities and limitations when doing this project.
What's next for Can i Cancel?
I wan to publish the addon to the chrome webstore so its accessible to all chrome users. I also want to add new feaures that makes is more easier for users to retrieve the terms information.
