Inspiration

University students can have a clear list of deadlines without a clear picture of whether their work fits into the time available. CampusSprint explores that gap with a simple, private planner.

What it does

Enter assignments, due dates, estimated hours remaining and priorities. Set weekday/weekend study availability and a start time. The app builds a two-week plan with 30- or 60-minute blocks, five-minute gaps, deadline overload warnings, completion tracking, browser persistence and Hong Kong time calendar export.

How it was built

HTML, CSS and JavaScript, without a framework or external API. A pure scheduling module orders tasks by deadline, then priority, and allocates blocks within each day’s time budget. It counts breaks and stops at midnight. The interface handles forms, safe text rendering, localStorage and ICS downloads. Static delivery lets each browser calculate its own plan.

Challenges and verification

Verification caught a midnight edge case; the scheduler was changed to cap blocks by time left in the day. Checks now pass for urgency, priority, breaks, capacity, past deadlines, completed tasks, zero availability, midnight limits, Hong Kong calendar times and the 14-day horizon. Browser checks verified sample planning, assignment entry, overload warnings and persistence after reload. This is a greedy heuristic, not an optimal solver.

Business and scalability

The target user is a university student managing coursework deadlines. A proposed model keeps basic planning free and tests a paid tier for future calendar conflict checking and synchronization, with optional university licenses. HK$20–30 per month is a price hypothesis, not validated willingness to pay. No billing, users, revenue or interviews are claimed. A first validation step would recruit ten consenting students for a week-long trial. Static assets can be cached and planning runs locally; synchronized features would need a separate backend.

Current limits and next steps

Availability repeats by weekday/weekend. There are no fixed-class conflicts, direct assignment editing, multi-device synchronization, LMS integrations or payments. Remove and re-add an assignment to change its estimate. Due dates mean end-of-day in Hong Kong. Plans cover only the chosen 14-day horizon. Next: student validation, one-off availability and estimate editing.

AI contribution disclosure

Codex generated the initial implementation, styling, verification code and submission draft at the entrant’s request. The planner uses deterministic rules and does not call an AI model. Demo assignments are fictional. The entrant has not yet confirmed review or demonstrated the code.

Submission status

Working prototype prepared locally. Hosting upload is blocked by tool permissions. Submitted to Next Founders Hackathon on 14 October 2026. A five-minute demonstration video is attached. It includes actual captured app interactions, explanatory chapters, captions, and synthesized narration.
