Inspiration
As international students ourselves, we noticed how hard it is to find safe housing, trustworthy jobs, and a real sense of community in Korea. Many students fall into scams, overpay for basics, or struggle with loneliness. We wanted to create one trusted platform where students can help each other.
What it does
CampusLink: Home & Work connects students to:
- Peer-to-peer housing & roommate finder
- Verified part-time jobs with reviews
- Student-only marketplace for affordable second-hand items
- Events & meetups to make real connections
- Trust & safety features like university email verification
How we built it
We built the app using ChatAndBuild, which allowed us to design and deploy quickly. The front-end is React-based, with Supabase handling authentication, database, and hosting. We used a student-first design approach to keep the UI simple and welcoming.
Challenges we ran into
- Designing trust and safety features for a student-only community
- Balancing multiple features (housing, jobs, marketplace) in one app
- Limited time to integrate more advanced payment and review systems
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Created a working prototype that solves real problems students face
- Designed a student-to-student marketplace and event-sharing system
- Built everything in a short timeline using collaborative tools
What we learned
- How to rapidly prototype with AI-powered app builders
- The importance of user trust and verification in community platforms
- That students value not only services, but also genuine social connections
What's next for CampusLink: Home & Work
- Add secure payment integration for housing & marketplace
- Expand features like mentorship, support groups, and language help
- Partner with universities to onboard more students
- Scale beyond Korea to support international students worldwide
