Inspiration
Campus safety incidents often go unnoticed until it's too late. We wanted a system that could detect danger early, alert security instantly, and give students a safer campus experience using the power of AI.
What it does
CampusGuardian uses AI vision to detect violence, harassment, fire, smoke, dangerous objects, and unusual crowds in real time. It alerts security instantly, provides a one-tap SOS button for students, and offers safe-route navigation inside campus.
How we built it
We built a responsive web app with a futuristic dashboard UI. AI models handle real-time detection through camera feeds. A backend stores incidents, manages roles, and triggers alerts. WebSockets enable live updates, and map routing highlights safest paths.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating real-time video analysis, handling multiple alert types, and designing a clean but powerful dashboard were tough. Mapping campus safe routes and syncing instant notifications also required careful optimization.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a working safety system that detects threats instantly, sends alerts in real time, and provides smooth SOS and navigation features. The polished UI and seamless flow from detection to response stand out.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate AI vision models, design real-time dashboards, optimize alerts, manage role-based access, and build a system with real-world impact.
What's next for CampusGuardian
Next, we plan to add mobile app support, integrate more precise location tracking, deploy real CCTV feeds, and partner with institutions to make campuses truly smart and safe.
