Inspiration Campus life depends on many small things working properly—lights, fans, switchboards, classrooms, washrooms, and other essential facilities. But when these problems are reported through informal conversations or manual processes, complaints can be missed, delayed, or forgotten.
We were inspired to build CampusFix-AI as a smarter and more transparent way for students to report campus issues. Our goal was to make complaint reporting simple while helping faculty and management identify, prioritize, track, and resolve problems efficiently. We also wanted to protect students' privacy by supporting anonymous complaint reporting.
What it does CampusFix-AI is an AI-powered campus complaint management platform that connects students, faculty, and campus management.
Students can report issues such as broken lights, faulty fans, damaged switchboards, classroom maintenance problems, and sanitation issues.
The platform helps management by:
Categorizing complaints using AI. Assigning priority based on the severity of an issue. Detecting duplicate or similar complaints. Providing a centralized dashboard to track complaints. Showing complaint status and progress from reporting to resolution. Protecting student identity through privacy-focused and anonymous reporting. Providing analytics to identify frequently occurring campus problems. Instead of complaints disappearing into messages or verbal communication, CampusFix-AI turns them into visible, trackable actions.
How we built it We designed CampusFix-AI as a modular web platform with separate frontend, backend, AI, database, and analytics components.
The frontend provides an intuitive interface for students and faculty to submit and monitor complaints. The backend manages complaint processing, authentication, data handling, and communication between different services.
Our AI layer focuses on complaint classification, priority prediction, duplicate detection, and analytics. Complaints are processed and converted into structured information so that management can quickly understand what the problem is and how urgently it needs attention.
We followed a privacy-first approach so that students can raise genuine concerns without unnecessarily exposing their personal identity.
Challenges we ran into One of our biggest challenges was designing a system that is simple enough for students to use while still providing useful information for administrators.
We also had to think carefully about how AI could classify different types of complaints, determine their priority, and identify similar reports without creating unnecessary duplicates.
Another challenge was privacy. We wanted students to be able to report issues confidently while still giving management enough information to investigate and resolve them.
Integrating the user interface, backend services, database, and AI components into one reliable workflow was another important challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We are proud of turning a common campus problem into a practical technology solution.
CampusFix-AI combines complaint management, artificial intelligence, analytics, and privacy into a single platform. Instead of treating complaints as isolated messages, our system creates a structured workflow where an issue can be reported, categorized, prioritized, tracked, and resolved.
We are especially proud of the anonymous reporting concept because it encourages students to speak up about genuine campus problems without unnecessary fear or exposure.
What we learned Building CampusFix-AI taught us that solving a real-world problem is more than just writing code.
We learned how to design a user-centered workflow, structure a full-stack application, integrate AI into a practical use case, handle data responsibly, and think about privacy from the beginning.
We also learned how important simplicity, reliability, and clear communication are when building software for real users.
Most importantly, we learned that AI becomes much more valuable when it is used to improve an everyday process rather than being added only for the sake of using AI.
What's next for CampusFix AI Our next goal is to make CampusFix-AI scalable for schools, colleges, and universities.
We plan to improve AI-based classification and priority prediction, strengthen duplicate detection, introduce smarter analytics and predictive maintenance insights, and provide better dashboards for administrators.
We also want to explore notifications, escalation mechanisms, role-based access, mobile support, and integration with existing campus management systems.
Our long-term vision is to create a campus infrastructure platform where problems are detected early, reported safely, prioritized intelligently, and resolved transparently.
