Inspiration
We were inspired to attempt to give a better experience to students on campus. Students need quiet places to study and sleep on campus. Our team also have plenty of stories wandering around on campus trying to find an adequate room for some peace and quiet.
What it does
With comprehensive data on computer and math science courses, we found all the rooms that aren't scheduled for classes! Use our convenient app to find the closest room near you that is free for the amount of time you need.
How we built it
BeautifulSoup scraped data from Ucalgary Courses; Python and Flask Backend with GraphQL endpoint; Android Studio frontend.
Challenges we ran into
Choosing an appropriate front end framework given our team capabilities and technological issues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Brainstorming process was a success: we came up with several viable project ideas but landed on something we all loved. Learning that ChatGPT can do some incredible things.
What we learned
Learning GraphQL. Learning how to web-scrape! Learned database stuff: how to host databases with Flask. It's sometimes good to just have fun
