Inspiration
Students often struggle to find project teammates, organize academic tasks, and turn their ideas into collaborative projects. We wanted to create a simple AI-powered campus assistant that brings student collaboration and productivity together in one place.
What it does
CampusConnect AI is a student-focused web application designed to support campus collaboration. Its planned core features include study assistance, task management, project planning, and finding potential teammates. The goal is to make academic collaboration easier through a simple, conversational interface.
How we built it
We created a web-based prototype using Python and FastAPI for the backend, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend, and local data for the initial demonstration. The application connects its interface to backend endpoints to display project information and manage tasks.
Challenges we faced
One challenge was keeping the application simple enough to develop within a short hackathon deadline while still demonstrating a useful student-focused experience. Another was planning how a conversational assistant could connect to practical campus tasks. The next development step is to integrate the selected Amazon technology and test the complete experience.
What we learned
We learned how to connect a web interface to backend APIs, structure a small full-stack application, and turn a campus problem into a practical prototype. We also learned the importance of clearly demonstrating working features and documenting technology integrations.
