CampusCompanion AI — Your Student Life, Organized

Inspiration

College students often have to switch between multiple websites and tools to manage their studies, discover scholarships, and prepare for future career opportunities. Finding useful information is one challenge; keeping everything organized is another.

I wanted to build a single workspace that brings these important parts of student life together and helps students take their next step with more confidence.

What it does

CampusCompanion AI is a student-focused web application that combines several useful tools in one place.

  • Overview Dashboard: Provides a central starting point for navigating the platform.
  • Guided Assistant: Offers rule-based guidance for scholarship exploration, study planning, project ideas, and career preparation.
  • Scholarship Discovery: Lets students browse available opportunities, search and filter listings, save opportunities, and access relevant official portals.
  • Study Planner: Helps students organize tasks, add their own activities, mark tasks as completed, and track progress.
  • Student Profile: Brings together account information, saved opportunities, progress summaries, and useful shortcuts.

The platform is designed to make student resources easier to navigate and everyday academic planning more manageable. Scholarship details and eligibility should always be verified with the relevant official provider.

How I built it

I built CampusCompanion AI using React, JavaScript, and CSS for the user interface, Supabase for authentication, and Vercel for deployment. The application combines reusable interface components with application logic to support its student-focused features.

The guided assistant uses predefined rules rather than a live generative AI model. The study planner uses local storage to retain task information in the same browser.

Challenges and learning

One of my main challenges was bringing different student needs into one application while keeping the navigation understandable and the interface consistent.

Building this project helped me practise frontend development, authentication integration, state management, persistent browser storage, and deployment. It also taught me the importance of being transparent about what an application currently supports.

What's next

I would like to continue improving the platform's usability, expand the available student resources, and explore ways to make opportunity discovery and academic planning even more useful.

CampusCompanion AI is my attempt to make the student journey a little more organized, accessible, and manageable.
