Inspiration
College and university campuses are often full of interesting and historic locations, but many students and faculty members may not be aware of all the hidden gems. Creating a geocaching app that focuses on campus exploration can be a great way to encourage people to get out and explore their surroundings.
What it does
Helps users find caches, by pinging phone notifications about hints of where to find the cache. This may include more straight forward clues, or quite cryptic hints based on the difficulty scale. As well as the ability to create your own cache, and create hints for it.
How we built it
Firebase - Backend React-Native - Frontend Expo-Location React Library (for location services)
Challenges we ran into
Creating a navbar (harder than it should've been), and most of us being completely new (or fairly new) to firebase and React-Native, it was definitely a challenge learning these.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Working with a new framework and learning firebase.
What we learned
The react native framework and firebase database system.
What's next for CampusCache
Full scale app release after some time... Better hint detection and an account system.
Built With
- expo-location
- firebase
