Inspiration

We were inspired by our own experiences of struggling in classes, specifically CSE 232. Under the rule of Sith Lord Josh Nahum, we tirelessly fought for our GPA, grades, and our sanity. Maybe we should be seeking out a tutor.

What it does

This application caters to struggling students, preventing a loss of academic standing. We connect students with tutors all across the campus. Students can choose a tutor based on classes and reputation, and the tutor can then choose to contact the student through the credentials provided.

How we built it

We worked with various front-end, back-end, and database applications. With the usage of CockRoach DB(hosted on google cloud), Flask, Auth0, Twillio, and programming/web scripting languages including Python and HTML, we went through a lot to reach the end goal.

Challenges we ran into

We made a lot of errors through git collaboration, front-end development, and networking. It was a rigorous process, with errors in hosting, format, etc popping up everywhere.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This entire experience was a learning process for all of us, as we decided to use a load of new libraries, tools, and applications. We're proud that we made so much progress within the span of two days, and we're happy to have an end product to show for it.

What we learned

We learned the basics of server-side/backend programming, how to implement databases, how to web script, and how to communicate forward and backward within each of these different aspects.

What's next for Campus Tutor

We hope to form a more dynamic front-end interface and host the site on Google Cloud. We want to implement a leaderboard system to rank tutors, add a way to incentivize users to act as tutors, and implement this system within other colleges.
