Campus Safety

Inspiration

With everything happening around us, from mass shootings to hate crimes, we're all a little scared now. A school campus is a place where we should feel safe and protected. So with that idea in mind, we came up with campus safety not the most creative name due to lack of sleep and energy

What it does

There are two ends to this application, the user side, and the administrator side. The user application is a simple app built for iOS where the user(student) can inform campus police before travelling from point A to point B so that the campus can monitor the user and ensure their safety. The administrator side, used by the campus police, can track the student movements and in case of an emergency, they can send help.

How I built it

I built the user application using Swift. I sent all the location updates to "Parse" from the application. The administrator site is built using React-JS and it uses the information found in the "Parse" database to track and locate the users.

Challenges I ran into

Never having done front end work, I struggled a lot with just building the basic application itself. Additionally, I'm still struggling with the administrator site to track the student movement and update it real time on the map.
