What's next for Campus Marketplace

Faith was a university student who noticed a common pattern among students on campus. Many students struggled with basic needs such as buying and selling used items, finding affordable food, getting reliable services like laundry, printing, photography, and even finding roommates. Most of these activities were done informally through WhatsApp groups, Instagram pages, and word of mouth, which often led to mistrust, scams, and disorganization. She observed that students had valuable items and skills but lacked a structured platform to connect with one another safely. A student might need to sell a laptop urgently, while another student was searching for a cheap, fairly used laptop. Some students were talented in graphic design, tailoring, or baking, but had no proper way to advertise their services within the campus community. To solve this problem, Faith decided to create a digital solution known as Campus Market Place, an app designed specifically for students within a campus environment. The application provides a centralized platform where students can buy and sell items, offer and request services, and connect with one another easily and safely. Campus Market Place allows users to create verified student profiles, list items for sale, and showcase services such as tutoring, hairdressing, photography, and tech services. It also includes a secure chat system for communication between buyers and sellers, a rating and review system to build trust, and categories that make it easy to find products or services quickly. In addition, the app supports roommate matching and even allows food vendors within campus to advertise their meals. The main aim of the project is to create a trusted and organized digital marketplace within the campus community, reducing dependence on informal and risky transaction methods. It also aims to help students earn income from their skills and unused items while making essential goods and services more accessible. The expected impact of Campus Market Place includes improved trust in student transactions, increased student entrepreneurship, easier access to affordable goods and services, reduced scams, and a more connected campus community.
