Inspiration

At the dining halls sometimes it would be difficult to know what you were eating and the nutrition facts related. We decided to try an attempt a all in one application that would gather the menus from the main dining halls, track calories over multiple days, and suggest foods that could help us reach our goals. However we did not have time to implement all of the features, we still learned a lot!

What it does

Scrapes the dynamic Campus Dish website and allows users to calculate daily macronutrients.

How we built it

-Web scraper utilized Selenium, BeautifulSoup -UI with TKinter

Challenges we ran into

  • Scraping data from nested fields
  • Parsing the data

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Effectively learned how to scrape dynamic websites using selenium. Learned about using graphical interfaces to show a variety of data.

What we learned

-Selenium -BeautifulSoup -TKinter -Git & GitHub -Collaborative software development -Data cleaning and processing

What's next for Campus Dish Web Scraper & Calculator

We want to iron out all of the little imperfections, and make the UI more userfriendly and efficient. Additionally, we'd like to add more features such as expected caloric intake for a day and weekly goal reminders.
