Inspiration
We spotted the untapped potential in students sharing their unique talents and turning passions into opportunities. This vision fuels a community where learning from peers isn't just educational—it's also a chance for creators to earn, enhancing campus life, boosting confidence, and positively impact student wellbeing on campus.
What it does
Our platform is a dual solution connecting eager learners with skilled peers. Users can browse or search for activities like piano lessons, access quick info like instructor details, costs, ratings, and save favorites. Detailed profiles with portfolios, phone number, email , and scheduling options ensure a secure and worthwhile experience for the user.
For creators, it's a space to showcase their skillsets through rich media and portfolios, set prices, and manage schedules. These creators can with future plans to include admin verification for added security and legitimacy.
How we built it
We started of with Figma mockups and prototyping, transitioning into a blend of Flask(for the backend and database management), HTML/ CSS(for the frontend and styling), and Python for API fetching. This groundwork allowed us to implement real-time updates and basic crud operations, even as we navigated the limitations of our initial tech stack; next.js and tailwindcss.
Challenges we ran into
Once we had finished the first mock up on Figma and realized the amount of time we had left. getting started on some code was on the forefront of our objective. We tried to use next js and tailwind for easy integration of ui libraries but ran into some node dependency issues which resulted in vanilla dev.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We believe that even though our arrival was pushed back 6 hours we were able to effectively communicate our multiple ideas into one concrete problem to solution strategy.
- Being able to not only design, but have a real working demo that shows some crud operations and real time updates for users.
What we learned
-The importance of clear team communication and decision-making can't be overstated—it's the cornerstone of overcoming obstacles and efficiently dividing tasks.
- Node.js, if not installed properly and in the right file path can cause a lot of dependency issues.
What's next for Campus creators
Post-hackathon, we're driven to refine our MVP. We aim to enhance the platform with community feedback, ensuring it becomes an invaluable resource for student growth and connection.
