What led us to make this project was that we wanted to connect the college campus community together and the main part was to show off how events hosted by the campus and other fellow students can bring the community together. What our app does is that you host an event at a location of your choosing near the campus, other students will be able to see the event and can join the event and interact through the chat.
Campus Connect helps students find what’s happening on campus right now. We built a live campus map where students can discover events, free food, study groups, sports, and spontaneous meetups. Students can mark themselves as going, chat with others attending, and see events update in real time. We also created Rally, a temporary meetup feature. A student can start something like a pickup game, set how many people are needed, and give it a short timer. If enough people join, the Rally happens. If not, it disappears. We built Campus Connect with Next.js, React, Supabase, and Vercel. One of our biggest challenges was making realtime events, chat, authentication, and mobile interactions all work smoothly together. The idea is that students shouldn’t find out about the best things on campus after they’re already over.
