The inspiration for Campus Companion arose from recognizing the unique challenges faced by first-generation students entering college. We saw an opportunity to leverage technology and create a chatbot that acts as a supportive guide. Our goal is to ensure that every incoming student, especially those less familiar with the college process, has easy access to campus resources and information. By bridging the information gap, we aim to empower these students, enhancing their college experience and fostering success.

What it does

Campus Companion is a specialized chatbot designed to assist incoming students, with a particular focus on first-generation students. Its primary goal is to help these students become acquainted with the wide array of resources available on campus. Users can input their questions and concerns, and the chatbot provides informative responses, guiding them to the relevant resources and providing website links and contact information as needed.

How we built it

We developed Campus Companion using a combination of cutting-edge technologies. Our chatbot's core intelligence relies on natural language processing (NLP) algorithms, which enable it to understand and respond to user queries effectively. To track and analyze user interactions, we utilized, a robust analytics platform that provided valuable insights into user behavior and helped us fine-tune the chatbot's responses.

In addition to the chatbot's intelligence, we put significant effort into creating an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) using HTML. This interface allows users to interact seamlessly with the chatbot, making it easy for incoming students to access essential campus information.

Our development process involved close collaboration among team members with expertise in NLP, chatbot development, web development, and user experience design. This multidisciplinary approach ensured that Campus Companion not only understands users but also offers a user-friendly and informative experience.
