Yeah it’s something that I personally struggled with. I have friends from elementary school and even middle and high that I simply haven’t talked with since graduating and cold texting from nowhere is hella intimidating lol.
We see them on Instagram, their name pops into our head every now and again, but when was the last time you spoke to that friend? It's awkward because you don't have a specific reason to reach out to them. We give you that reason.
Everyday, Campfire randomly pairs with you with an old friend and gives you a question to discuss (eg. "What's something kind that someone did recently for you?" or "What made you smile recently?"). You can only see your friend's response once you respond. With a little social engineering, we've reduce the awkwardness of reaching out and broken the ice.
We've built it as an iOS app using SwiftUI. The SwiftUI app interacts with a backend custom server built with Ruby on Rails.
