Inspiration
To address an issue that we ourselves have experienced as Job seekers, in that we can lose track of the hundreds of applications that we submit.
What it does
We created a google extension that allows for users to keep track of the jobs that they apply to with a single click. Upon clicking, on the job that I want to track, it will interact with our SQL database and then display all of the jobs on our user friendly web application.
How we built it
We created our Google extension using JavaScript, Html and CSS. Our front end client for our web application was developed in ReactJS and TypeScript. We used a SQL database for the backend and ExpressJS server to set up our endpoints.
Challenges we ran into
It was our first time creating a google extension, which proved to be a challenge especially due to the task of creating our front end client and back end as well. It was a lot of different tasks in especially a short amount of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to complete our project and the goals that we had set out in the beginning. We had a lot of hurdles that almost led to losing aspects of our project, but we were able to perservere through it.
What we learned
We gained a vast knowledge in team work and collaboration along with more knowledge in all aspects of development. Especially, with creating extensions as it was our first time!
What's next for Cameo
In the fuutre, we would like to flesh out our application to ensure that our current features are more smooth. In addition, we would like to expand to other job sites as well.
