According to the STM, approximately 1.5 million people use the metro in Montreal on a daily basis ; however, many are unsatisfied with the organization of the metro. Passenger's main concern is that during rush hour some can’t get on or get off at their chosen station, as many tend to get stuck in their carts. This is due to the fact that passengers typically bunch up at certain parts of the track based on the station’s layout. So to solve this problem, our company TOS is in the process of developing an algorithm that analyzes metro traffic trends at all times of the day and actively works to organize people in carts categorized by their destination. For example, during rush hour at Berri-UQAM, our algorithm will learn that x amount of people want to go to a certain station and will put them all in 1 or more carts to help people get off at the station that they want. In the long term, our startup aims to serve multiple cities and over time lower the number of metros that are being used at a singular time as the green line in montreal for example has metro trains passing every 3-6 minutes during rush hour, we project to use less metro trains while still being as effective ,leading to decongestion in some carts and decreasing energy usage by the STM.
