Inspiration
We thought about this project in our strive to save our communities, in hopes of a future where we could hug our loved ones without being afraid of a new infectious wave.
What it does
It identifies the potential COVID19 cases by analysing the cough sounds using microphones and crossreferencing it with fever data from thermal cameras
How we built it
We gave a new use to the already existing technologies, joining them with AI for better case identification
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge came from the quality of data we fed the AI with, also, we may run into future challenges by facial recognition and people's privacy, so, considering this, we thought about an implementation using volatile and digital credentials
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to find a synergic way to implement both the thermal imaging and omnidirectional microphones in search for better identification patterns. We succesfully implemented thermal cameras at low cost and a 6-grid array microphones using low cost materials and keeping them compatible with raspberry pi
What we learned
The incredible amounts of conditions that may lead to cough is just too much, in the mean time, we could train the AI to identify and classify if a person's cough is voluntary or a severe symptom of any kind, in a future, it may work for also identifying potential cases of tuberculosis, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, as well as, pertussis and parapertussis.
What's next for Camaras_termograficas_deteccion_oportuna-T2#HACKTECHCOVID
the next thing to do (besides implementing it in hospitals, police stations and other places) would be the training and magnification of the AI using more data. This project may lead to a new standarization for our countries.
