Inspiration
Today is a day where Chat.GPT is a societal trend and all industries are looking into new innovative ways to use AI. This was our inspiration. To use chatbots for the betterment of society. There are a lot of negatives when looking at online innovations, we wanted to create another positive. Thus, a chatbot-type AI came to our heads. Instead of poor mental health due to devices, we wanted to flip the game and use devices to improve mental health instead.
What it does
CalmQuest is a game that provides the user with 5 options, and based on the chosen option, takes them further into their wellness journey. The 5 options are logging stress levels (which lets you log your stress level for the time and records your stress history in a separate file), viewing stress trends (which lets you view your previously logged stress levels), guided relaxation tips (which provides a tip if you are feeling very stressed), display points (which tells you how many points you have earned up until now), and unlock achievements (which tells you what achievements you have unlocked based off the amount of points you have earned).
How we built it
CalmQuest is built entirely in Python, as it is the language we are most comfortable with. We used many defined functions and imported Python functions to build our game. We also have used many different elements such as variable declarations, return strings, print statements, and if/else statements. We also included user input, because, at the end of the day, we are trying to help whoever is using the app.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we ran into was while coding. There were many times when we got stuck on our code and didn't really know how to fix it, so we got help from the internet. Our old course assignments were also very helpful while trying to solve these programs because we they helped us realize small errors and helped us fix them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Overall, creating the Python demo, due to our limited experience.
What we learned
With hard work, dedication and a tight deadline, we can complete so much.
What's next for CalmQuest
In the future, once we further develop our skills, we hope our demo will change from just a Python project to an app that includes front and back-end design, and multiple features like added playlists, images, and interactive meditation of the user's choice. We plan on creating an app that is easily accessible via the App Store, Google Play, etc.
