Inspiration
Our group members have personally experienced mental health issues during the winter months and have tried out other wellness apps but none seemed to provide a truly immersive experience that made us want to come back for more. This lead us to build CalmCocoon, an app that integrates VR and biofeedback sensors that provide real time feedback on various indicants of stress.
What it does
The CalmCocoon app is a meditation and relaxation tool designed to provide users with immersive experiences using virtual reality (VR) and biofeedback sensors. It offers virtual environments to help users manage stress, improve mental well-being, and promote mindfulness. The app utilizes biofeedback sensors to monitor physiological responses such breathing patterns, heart rate variability (HRV), muscle tension, providing real-time feedback on these major indicators of stress, to enhance the effectiveness of meditation sessions.
How we built it
We built this mobile application using Figma, HTML, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge we ran into was integrating the VR, biofeedback sensors, and mobile app. We didn't have experience with learning how these three worked in tandem, but with the help of using our available resources, we were able to solve these roadblocks and come up with a viable solution.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the challenges, we're proud of several accomplishments, including:
- Being able to code and create a working app within 2 days
- Creating a future forward solution that involves up and coming technologies that are on the verge of becoming mainstream: VR and Biofeedback Sensors
- Incorporating additional business plan elements into our slide deck: Competitor Analysis, Pricing strategy, Implementation timelines, Marketing strategy, KPIs, Partnerships and Collaboration plans
What we learned
We learned how to work together as a team, as well as how to prioritize tasks and features given a tight timeframe. It also taught us that VR and biofeedback sensors have immense potential in the field of mental health and wellness, offering innovative solutions for stress management and mindfulness, and how to tap into underrated disruptive technologies.
What's next for CalmCocoon
We would like to build a proprietary CalmCocoon biofeedback sensor, and link this with the app.
