Inspiration

I work around used cars. Every day we need used parts for a few vehicles, and spare parts shops usually have no live stock online, so someone has to phone them and ask if they have the part, what it costs, and if you can pick it up.

That job is “call the parts for me.” We turned it into a skill. Sit back and relax while our agent calls spare parts shops for the used automotive part you need.

What it does

You give it the car, the part, the shop, and the number. It shows you what it will say, and after you say call them, CALL-E dials the spare parts shop and brings back stock, price, and pickup. You confirm the number before it dials.

How we built it

A normal Agent Skills folder: SKILL.md, some notes, and a few Node scripts. Preview runs on your machine, the host’s web search finds shops, and CALL-E places the call through MCP, the CLI, or the API. Login stays on your machine.

Challenges we ran into

You have to confirm the shop number for that part before a call. Login and search stay with the host, because Cursor, Codex, and the CLI each work a bit differently. If a call status is unclear, we poll the same run instead of starting another one.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

You ask, the agent calls the spare parts shop, and you get the quote. The same folder works in Cursor and Codex, so you can preview with no keys and then place one real CALL-E call.

What we learned

Confirm the number, keep one request on one call, and stay on one shop, one used automotive part, one quote.

What's next for Call the Parts

Let someone pick a few spare parts shops and confirm each number. Same idea for other used inventory later.
