Inspiration
This app was built from my own need. I was tired of different apps for calorie tracking, gym workouts and progressive overload tracking and all privacy issues I had with those. Had a great fitness coach who went only online and said "You record yourself and I will tell you what to fix"... I thought to myself, I don't need to pay 50€ per session for that... I can build an AI to tell me the same thing.
I have thrown in to-do / calendar features just to have it all that I need for a day in one app.
What it does
Tracks your calories, either by manual input or taking photos of your meals, tracks your workouts, again either manually or you can record yourself doing workouts and it can even comment on your form and count the reps for you.
And track your day via calendar and to-do. So that you have it all organized in one place.
How we built it
Started as a demo app with Replit, out of fun, but that created architecture I was very unhappy with. Therefore I took Codex and 5.6 (mostly Sol) to move it to .NET 10, first Flutter, but then I decided to test ChatGPT 5.6 to it's boundaries and actually moved to Uno platform. I was inspired with that after I read that Toyota selected Uno platform for their new app.
Challenges we ran into
Plenty... performance issues with the camera and workout reps calculations, UI was (and partially still is) very cluttered...
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In some areas we got some great design (again, thanks to ChatGPT Images and 5.6 Sol Pro), automatic reps work great for bodyweight squats (only ones that are tested so far, due to limited time in Hackaton, but it will be improved after the Hackaton).
What we learned
That I can do it!! Had this idea for so long, but I don't think it was possible with AI before 5.6.
What's next for CalDo
Testing more excersises not just bodyweight squats, further improvements to the UI, thinking about more features for to-do and calendar part of the app.
