The calculation of Madelung constant for a crystal such as NaCl, is a conditionally convergent series. A system was used to calculate the Madelung constant using the programming languages, NIM, C, and C++.
Background Information An Isometric Cubic System, also referred to as cubic crystal system, has a crystal system that is in the same of a cube.
Madelung constants are crucial in understanding phenomena related to the electrostatic potentials. It can be used to investigate the degree to which constants for highly ionic materials can be used to understand and predict the properties of the ionic surface and the stability of nanotubes. It is determines the electrostatic potential of an ion in a crystal by approximating the ions by point charges.
In healthcare, the electrostatic potential can be applied to the forefront of healthcare. Material scientists, inorganic chemists, and physicians are teaming up in order to explore novel ways such drug delivery via inorganic and ionic nanoparticle transport. A journal article entitled, “The path for metal complexes to a DNA target,” authored by Alexis C. Komor and Jacqueline K. Barton, is an example of one type of research. This paper was the feature article in May 2013’s issue of Chemical Communication.
This will eventually decrease the decision time for researchers and physicians in crucial decisions. This will play a larger role when gigabytes or terabytes of data must be analyzed.
