Inspiration
Those kids from UIUC that made Linked In ranked. Everyone at Berkeley is a sweat who loves comp, so we might as well have a leaderboard right? We know you guys are social climbers lol (me too). It will humble you!
What it does
It helps user know how cracked they are based on our curated key metrics of Linked In success. Also does an analysis that helps the user to improve their careers through suggestions.
How we built it
We used React Native to make an application and had cursor automate our UI for us. We used Clado to scrape and make a dataset of all Linked In profiles found on the internet in EECS and CS and made the Claude API analyze and the data from it.
Challenges we ran into
Linked In cannot be scraped due to their strict data and privacy policies, so we could not get all of the data from all students, although we were provided image links their tokens were locked by Linked In so we could not access and integrate into our UI :( We tried for 4 hours to get past Linked In's security but we are not cracked.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud of finishing this, and compromising with data we found from a data breach in Clado.
What we learned
Linked In don't play about its privacy. Always figure out the requirements for your product beforehand and see if it is feasible, so you don't have to compromise and have a less then satisfactory result
What's next for Cal Career
We want to make this for all majors if possible, and find a way for people to insert their profiles and add it to our data set! Each major has different criteria so it should be fun :)
