Inspiration

The project was born out of a recognition that modern scheduling demands have outgrown conventional calendar applications. In today’s fast-paced world, professionals, teams, and individuals juggle increasingly complex schedules, often across multiple time zones, priorities, and commitments. Existing tools, while functional, frequently require manual input, repetitive adjustments, and a steep learning curve, leading to frustration and lost productivity. Cal AI was created to address these challenges by leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence to deliver a proactive, user-centric scheduling assistant that anticipates needs and adapts to dynamic lifestyles. At its core, Cal AI aims to empower users by simplifying the scheduling process while enhancing efficiency and flexibility. By integrating advanced natural language processing and agentic AI capabilities, Cal AI allows users to manage their calendars through natural, conversational commands—whether it’s scheduling meetings, setting reminders, or resolving conflicts. The system intelligently interprets user preferences, learns from patterns, and provides tailored suggestions to optimize time management. For example, it can automatically propose meeting times that align with participants’ availability, account for travel time, or prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.

What it does

How we built it

We built it as a two man team in 24 hours with no breaks or sleep.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges with getting accurate and reliable outputs from the LLMs we used, but this is the nature of these technologies and with some iterative prompt engineering we were able to overcome this

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are super proud of the integrations with external sources, which will allow new users to get onboarded fast and still have their native tools available to them so they don't feel overwhelmed during the transitionary period

What we learned

We learned that sometimes you need to sacrifice clean code for speed of development

What's next for Cal AI

Next up for Cal AI would definitely be further integrations, and more options for notifying users through external means.
