Inspiration
We wanted to create a seamless, modern online ordering experience for cake lovers, making it easier to discover and customize flavors directly from a web platform.
What it does
CakeVilla is a full-featured e-commerce website where users can browse a rich catalog of bakery products, manage a shopping cart, and seamlessly order cakes online. It also integrates a smart AI-driven recommendation logic to suggest flavors based on user choice.
How we built it
The web application is built entirely using the MERN stack:
- Frontend: React.js and CSS3 for an interactive and clean user interface.
- Backend: Node.js and Express.js to handle secure APIs and routing.
- Database: MongoDB for efficient storage of user data and product catalogs.
Challenges we faced
Managing the state for the shopping cart and setting up smooth communication between the frontend and database APIs were key challenges that we successfully resolved.
What we learned
We gained deep insights into building a scalable full-stack application and connecting backend services cleanly with a responsive React frontend.
