Inspiration
The new Bluetooth LE APIs by Google give functionalities for simple Ad-Hoc networks that serve our purpose
What it does
The high crowd in Mena needs to be managed more efficiently to avoid accidents and give pilgrims smooth transition between Mashaer
How we built it
We used a simple model from nature where a careless mother depends on her child's following her silently and will only cry when they do not see their mother around. The mother represents the group leader (Mutawif) whose device will broadcast continually. The children represent the Pilgrims who will scan Bluetooth and detects the presence of their leader. And they will report missing to another mother if they don't see their mother. This way of tracking, assumes everybody is within a circle of their group without the need of them continually tracking . Thus, saving communication channels from jamming.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing Bluetooth APIs
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Reduction of communication traffic needed to track pilgrims ( a ratio of 100:1)
What we learned
Using Google cloud and Bluetooth LE technology.
What's next for Cahrotec40
To integrate this simple protocol into complete crowd management, resource utilization
