About the Project: Café Aurora is a one-page website I built for a fictional café inspired by the Northern Lights. I wanted it to feel calm, colorful, and welcoming. The idea came from my love for café vibes, and I thought it’d be fun to mix that with a unique theme. I used Sora AI to create the café and café item images, which added a creative, slightly futuristic touch.
How I Built It: I built it using just HTML and CSS, focusing on how it looks and how people interact with it. I played around with gradient colors to mimic the Northern Lights, added smooth scrolling for easy navigation, and included hover effects to make it feel more interactive without using JavaScript. The site is fully responsive, so it works well on different screen sizes. Hosting the images online through PostImages helped keep my code clean and organized.
What I Learned: I learned a lot while building this project. Things like structuring a website properly with semantic HTML, using CSS flexbox, and adding transitions really make a design feel polished. I also realized how small details like spacing, colors, and hover effects—\ can make a huge difference in how a website feels.
Challenges I Faced: One of the tricky parts was keeping the design colorful but still easy to read. I also ran into issues with image sizes and optimization when preparing everything for submission, but hosting them online helped a lot. With some trial and error, I was able to finalize and polish up the webpage to make it ready for submission :)
