Inspiration

We noticed that many musicians struggle to maintain consistent rhythm during solo practice without a teacher present. We wanted to create a bridge between raw practice sessions and professional feedback by utilizing the unique capabilities of the Bee track.

What it does

CadenceCoach allows users to upload music practice sessions for instant technical analysis. The system processes the audio data to identify timing errors and suggests specific areas for improvement. It ensures that every minute spent practicing is productive and data-driven.

How we built it

We developed the backend using Python and AWS Lambda to handle audio processing tasks at scale. We used boto3 to interface with AWS services and integrated Amazon Comprehend to analyze the sentiment and structure of practice notes. The core logic is wrapped in the Bee framework to ensure a seamless experience for developers on this track.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was synchronizing the audio timestamps with the metadata generated by our analysis models. We also struggled to optimize the Lambda functions to run within timeout limits when processing longer musical recordings. This required careful refinement of our data processing pipeline.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how smoothly we integrated the music analysis logic with the Bee-specific environment. Seeing the system provide actionable feedback on a user's rhythmic practice session was a huge win for our team.

What we learned

We learned a lot about handling audio-related data within a serverless architecture. We also gained deeper insights into how to use Amazon Comprehend to extract meaning from non-traditional musical data logs.

What's next for CadenceCoach

We plan to add real-time feedback that provides instant alerts while the user plays. We also hope to expand our library of musical templates to support a wider variety of instruments and genres.
