Inspiration

We aimed to make people's lives easier and save some of their time.

What it does

Our project scans for items inside of a storage system. The user picks what item they want to scan for.

How we built it

The main body of our project mimics a cabinet that was created through laser cutting wood. The component that scans for the item is an ESP-32 camera. It slides up and down the cabinet through a pulley system and numerous 3-D printed components. A user can prompt what item they wish to scan for through a webpage, and if the item is found, they will be notified through the same webpage.

Challenges we ran into

Aligning the components of the cabinet to fit like a Lego piece, getting two ESP's to communicate with each other, implementing AI to detect a wider amount of items,

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a working product and learning new skills.

What we learned

Laser cutting, AI with Python, ESP32 communication

What's next for CabinAID

Larger cabinets, drawers, and lockers.
