Project Info
Our project is a smart, health-focused environmental monitoring and navigation platform designed specifically to assist individuals with respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD, bronchitis, or other air-sensitive illnesses. The system integrates real-time environmental data, predictive analytics, and intelligent routing to help users manage their exposure to polluted air and plan safer daily journeys.
The core of the application is an interactive map-based interface enhanced with three environmental filters:
AQI Filter: Displays real-time and forecasted Air Quality Index levels, allowing users to visually identify clean or polluted regions.
Wind Filter: Shows wind direction and speed, helping users understand how pollutants may spread across nearby areas.
Traffic Congestion Filter: Highlights high-traffic zones that typically correlate with elevated pollution levels, enabling better route decisions.
Users can also create personal accounts and input details about any respiratory diseases they may have. Based on this profile, the system automatically monitors the user’s home location and sends timely alerts whenever the surrounding AQI reaches unhealthy or sensitive levels. This empowers users to take preventive measures early, such as staying indoors, wearing masks, or adjusting travel plans.
The platform features an integrated navigation system that analyzes multiple possible routes and recommends the cleanest, lowest-AQI path instead of the fastest one. This helps reduce exposure to polluted hotspots and supports healthier travel decisions.
Overall, this project aims to provide a personalized environmental health assistant that helps respiratory-sensitive individuals track air quality, receive safety alerts, and plan safer, cleaner journeys using data-driven insights.
Project Idea
The idea for this project began with a simple but powerful observation: people with respiratory illnesses don’t just need directions — they need protection. During days of heavy haze, traffic congestion, or sudden AQI spikes, many vulnerable individuals are forced to make unsafe trips without knowing how polluted their surroundings really are. Existing navigation apps only care about speed, not health.
This sparked the question:
“What if navigation could prioritize clean air instead of just the fastest route?”
From that moment, the concept was born: a smart map that doesn’t just show roads, but shows the quality of the air you breathe. A system that warns you before pollution reaches your home. A tool that helps those with asthma, COPD, and other respiratory conditions plan their day safely — not blindly.
Combining real-time environmental data with user health profiles, the idea evolved into a platform that transforms everyday navigation into a personalized health safety companion. What started as concern for vulnerable individuals became a mission to help people breathe easier, travel smarter, and live healthier.
