Inspiration
When it comes to building grassroots movements, plenty of people have the passion, but it is often the planning that will stop a movement in its tracks. Considering the fact that most people involved in social movements are usually working with several organizations at a time, staying on track of who is meeting when, what you're responsible for, etc. can feel like its own full time job. We created C.Org with the vision of simplifying community organizing so that folks can spend more time doing what they love and less time coordinating schedules.
What it does
C.Org takes the confusion out of organizing by putting all of your commitments in one place. Users can belong to different groups on C.Org and find all of their action items and schedules in one convenient platform. With automatic push notifications on the status of action items to all group members, one person won't be responsible for tracking how much progress is being made on necessary steps- all members can see the live status of action items. Users can simply upload meeting minutes and C.Org will extract Action Items from document and assign them to the specified group members. Additionally, users have a place to consolidate their when2meets so they can see their commitments at a glance.
How we built it
We used django for a full stack framework, connected to a mongodb database to store our users, with css/bootstrap/html front end.
Challenges we ran into
Connecting the front and back end!
