Inspiration
After talking with a pilgrim who performed his hajj last year, he expressed that he could've avoided very high traffic if he performed some rites at better time where the area is less crowded
What it does
With one click and one click only, the app will will help improving the pilgrim experience and let the pilgrim know what is his/her next step in the hajj and what is the best time to perform it based on many factors that are calculated automatically. These factors include the current date and time, the pilgrim current location, and the crowdedness of the location he is heading to.
How we built it
We are targeting 10-20% of pilgrims with an app that will let them know their next rites and to perform it in the least crowded time and therefore reduce the crowd and improve the overall experience for the other 80-90% of pilgrims. We use current and location and time to determine the current and next rites. We aim to use ir-uwb radar sensor to that sends radio waves and measure traffic in real time. For the hackathon implementation, we used historical data to estimate crowd condition
Challenges we ran into
Making a great user experience with as many click as possible and measuring the crowds were the main challenges. We thought of many approaches to tackle this issue creatively and effectively. Thermal mapping won't be an effective solution in an outdoor warm environment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of coming up with a solution that when implemented completely will improve the pilgrim experience
What we learned
To not give up and to think out of the box. It's all about hard working and team working.
What's next for C-10-BlueWave
To give more accurate crowd estimation using ir-uwb radar sensor that sends radio waves to estimate the crowdedness.
