Inspiration : A combination of terraria and a personal idea for a video game.

What it does : The role of the player is a squirrel who is trying to thrive in a season loop carrying out season specific tasks throughout the game while unintentionally growing a forest, thats why we named the game "Forest you Forgot"

How we built it : We used godot as the game engine, python 3 to generate all the assets, a python library called Pillow to draw all the pixel arts and saving it as PNG files as per design choice of the game, and NumPy, another python library to synthesize sounds and music for the game. We laid down an initial premises for the game as a squirrel in a park trying to survive throughout seasons then added features as we went along with development.

Challenges we ran into : making the seasons meaningfully impactful to a playable game, design and animation complexity given the short amount of time and changing direction mid jam as we were working on a different game before which after producing a meaningful chunk we realized how the seasons arent a strict part of game mechanics.

Accomplishments that we're proud of : finishing a fully functioning game with a genuine game loop and a pretty nice message as we progress in the game in such a short amount of time.

What we learned : game developing with AI mainly

What's next for Bytes of the Round Table : More hackathons!
