Inspiration

Due to the ongoing pandemic, there has been an increased use of technology. Both noticed that it was very easy to get distracted and lose track of ongoing tasks.

What it does

Social media, shopping, videos, games...these apps and websites are scientifically engineered to keep you hooked and coming back. The cost to your productivity, ability to focus, and general well-being can be staggering. Bytemuse gives you control over them thus improving your quality of life.

How we built it

To build this app we integrated technologies such as Firebase and discord RTC.

Challenges we ran into

While building the app to fetch the active title we used a package named active win however we ran into an error while packing it with electron builder. We figured the active win package was causing the error and had to switch to Electron Active Window. Secondly, we had to give admin privileges to the app, as it was necessary for features such as blocking/redirecting websites that needed elevated privileges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

To begin with, we are proud that we learned how to integrate Firebase into our project and create prototypes with Figma. Secondly, our collaborating skills improved as time progressed.
