Societies often have a difficulty in understanding the needs of our world’s aging population. One hindrance to understanding aging is that people can rarely grasp it until they reach old age themselves. To be able to put ourselves in the shoes of the elderly was a challenge, as the tasks that we might find simple can be difficult for them. We often take for granted simple acts such as cooking a meal or remembering to close our front door. Throughout this Hackathon, we learned how we can make technology more accessible to the elderly through the use of calm and contrasting colors, layouts, and different sources to guide them in using the application, such as videos and text audios. Much thought has been put into how we can make the final product simple and accessible for the senior population.
