Inspiration

Our project draws inspiration from some of the most successful e-commerce platforms in the world, including Taobao, Shopee, and the Korean online store YesStyle. These platforms are known for their innovative features, wide range of products, and seamless shopping experiences. We aim to combine the best attributes of these giants with the engaging and dynamic nature of TikTok to create a unique shopping experience that stands out in the crowded e-commerce landscape.

What it does

Our app is designed to offer users a highly personalized shopping experience. Trendiness: Users can decide whether they prefer trendy products or unique, non-mainstream items, ensuring they find exactly what they are looking for. Interest: Users can also specify their areas of interest from a diverse range of categories. Color and Design: The app also allows users to choose from various design styles, with color options of products available at a glance, making it easier to find items that match their taste. Price: Additionally, users can indicate their price preferences, whether they are seeking competitively priced, value-for-money items or luxurious, high-end products. AR and AI: To further enhance the shopping experience, our app provides search recommendations based on user activity and trending searches. The in-app camera feature uses augmented reality (AR) to recognize products and recommend similar ones, making it easier for users to find what they need with just a snap.

How we built it

The frontend of the TikTok Store was meticulously designed using Canva and Figma, ensuring a sleek and user-friendly interface. These tools allowed us to create visually appealing and intuitive designs that enhance the user experience.

The development of the frontend was carried out using React-Native, a powerful framework that enabled us to build a robust and responsive app. Throughout the project, we collaborated closely as a team, using Git for version control and to streamline our workflow, ensuring that everyone could contribute effectively and stay on the same page.

Challenges we ran into

One of the primary challenges we faced was learning how to code the frontend of the app. This required a significant investment of time and effort, as we had to familiarize ourselves with new tools and technologies. Additionally, managing our time effectively and delegating work efficiently was crucial to ensure that we could meet our deadlines and achieve our project goals. Balancing these tasks and keeping the project on track was a constant challenge, but it also provided valuable learning experiences for the entire team.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are particularly proud of successfully learning and implementing frontend coding for the app. This achievement represents a significant milestone for our team, as it allowed us to transform our design concepts into a functional, user-friendly app.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we acquired essential frontend coding skills, which are crucial for developing modern web and mobile applications. We also gained a deeper understanding of the competitive landscape of e-commerce platforms through our SWOT analysis. This analysis helped us identify key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for TikTok Shop, providing a clearer picture of how we can position our app to succeed in the market.

What's next for US

Looking ahead, our goal is to propel TikTok Shop to new heights through hyper-personalization of the shopping experience. We aim to achieve this by combining user preferences and circumstances to create a more tailored and engaging shopping journey. Our future plans include leveraging AR and AI technologies to enhance object recognition in images, enabling better product recommendations and more intuitive shopping experiences. By continuously innovating and improving our app, we strive to set TikTok Shop apart in the competitive e-commerce landscape and deliver unparalleled value to our users.
